Mr. Shingu will share his thoughts on how we should address natural energy such as wind and sun when considering the future of lighting design.

The purpose of this event is to foster a global exchange of ideas and experiences in the field of lighting design. By bringing together lighting designers from six different countries from Asia, we aim to explore and celebrate the diverse lighting cultures and values that exist worldwide. The event serves as a platform for cross-cultural learning, networking, and collaboration, with the ultimate goal of enriching the field of lighting design and promoting cultural understanding through shared experiences.

Teams of IALD member U40 (PROFESSIONAL) and students will predict future light events and draw dreamy future nightscapes. Each team in each city will recall, research, present, and discuss the creation of future nightscapes.

There are many social issues today,so major changes can also be seen in the methods of architecture and urban design, where a variety of approaches different from the past are beginning to be practiced. In this project, we will consider "What does it mean to crossed boundaries?" for lighting design or lighting designers.

The scope of design for lighting consultants is expanding, as technical underpinnings play a major role in various aspects of the design phase. Lighting design is experiencing a significant period of change with the integration of design engineering. In this session, we will discuss the evolving role of the lighting designer, presenting insights from different perspectives and showcasing reference projects.

"Totonou" (a Japanese word) is a concept unique to the Japanese language that signifies achieving harmony and balance within oneself. In the context of Japanese sauna and bathing culture, it denotes the process of warming the body through temperature and humidity regulation, facilitating relaxation, detoxification, and the relief of physical and mental fatigue. "Totonou" encompasses the pursuit of overall mental and physical health and harmony, and it is believed that lighting design can promote the creation of environments conducive to achieving this state. As people's lifestyles and spatial arrangements rapidly evolve, there is a multifaceted consideration of how lighting design can contribute to achieving a state of "totonou." In light of the SDGs' target year of 2030, this study contemplates the ideal manifestation of lighting, incorporating the concept of "totonou" as a key theme.
